As a traditional company, Oakland only uses the best natural resin, also known as rhodoid, for this range. This special material comes from Italy and is produced there by a family business from the fibers of the finest cotton (cellulose). Cellulose is a natural polymer and is the backbone of the entire plant world.
The granules made from it are dyed, pressed and processed into blocks in Italy.

These large plates can be cut into thin slices, from which the individual hair accessories are then cut. Our rhodoid is processed into hair accessories in France in up to 16 steps, some of which are still done by hand. Each barrette has its own pattern, which is why hair accessories made from rhodoid are truly unique.

The elaborately produced hair ornaments originate mainly from the French town of Oyonnax. The small town is located on the southern edge of the Jura Mountains between Lyon and Geneva. This region is known worldwide for its traditional production of combs and hair ornaments. It has been the center of the plastics industry since the end of the 18th century.
